Little bit about the role
The Senior Key Worker plays a vital leadership role within the Case Management Team at Inner Melbourne Community Hub, Ozanam House. Working in a dynamic crisis accommodation environment, you will support single adults experiencing homelessness and disadvantage. Your primary focus will be to assist clients through periods of crisis, recovery, and growth, enabling them to access and maintain secure, affordable housing.
This position works collaboratively with a multidisciplinary team to provide goal-oriented, person-led case management. You will develop and implement holistic support plans that address complex needs, including mental health, substance use, disability, justice involvement, and family violence. In addition to direct client work, the Senior Key Worker will provide operational leadership, support coordination, and contribute to the continuous improvement of the program.
Key Selection Criteria

A relevant tertiary qualification (minimum degree level) and at least 3–4 years of experience in case management or a related field
(A lesser qualification may be considered where significant relevant experience is demonstrated, subject to any mandatory standards.) -
Proven understanding of case management frameworks, including boundary setting, accountability and holistic goal development.

Demonstrated experience supporting individuals with multiple and complex needs, including homelessness, family violence, mental health, substance use, disability or justice system involvement.

Strong leadership skills with the ability to manage program plans, performance and resources effectively.

Capacity to manage conflict and respond to challenging behaviours with professionalism and empathy.

Excellent communication skills and the ability to foster respectful and professional relationships with clients, colleagues, and stakeholders.

A current Victorian Driver’s Licence.

Your background includes working with vulnerable populations, particularly those experiencing homelessness, and you possess a deep understanding of the social determinants that impact housing stability.
You bring a high level of professional judgment, initiative, and self-reflection to your work. You have demonstrated capacity to lead within complex service environments, resolve conflicts, and support team members in managing demanding situations. Your approach is culturally aware, trauma-informed, and built on respect, dignity, and empowerment.
