About the Role 

We are currently looking for three Senior Leisure & Lifestyle Officer’s to support the residential aged care facilities at Lakemba.

We are looking for individuals who are passionate about making a difference, collaborative, creative, organised and problem solvers.  If you have the ability to support the Leisure and Lifestyle Manager to ensure leisure, recreational activities for both group and individuals are occurring as planned and act as a role model for Leisure and Lifestyle Officer’s, providing supervision, guidance and training, then this position is for you.  We are looking for people who think outside the square and have the ability to contribute towards the strategic and operational performance of the service.

Importantly, you will ensure that the Leisure and Lifestyle program within the home delivers and supports the physical, intellectual, emotional, cultural and social wellbeing of residents and supports the compliance as required under the Aged Care Quality Standards.

 Essential Criteria: 

  • Certificate IV in Leisure and Health or working towards.
  • Demonstrated experience organising and facilitating centre-based activities, group outings and social support programs to support resident wellbeing.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills. 
  • Effective conflict resolution, prioritisation and time management skills, and the ability to work productively within deadlines.
  • Demonstrated understanding and knowledge of Aged Care Quality Standards and ACFI or the ability to learn.
  • Excellent Microsoft Office skills. 
  • Ability to support the mission and values of St Basil’s. 
  • Current influenza and COVID-19 vaccinations. Evidence of these vaccinations will be required to be provided prior to commencement for successful candidate. 

  Desirable Criteria: 

  • Minimum 2 – 3 years experience working as a Leisure & Lifestyle Officer within residential care/community setting in Australia.
  • Ability to effectively support, instruct and supervise a small team.
  • Ability to work in a culturally diverse environment. 
  • Understanding and empathy with religious based service delivery. 
  • Proficiency in spoken Greek and Greek cultural appreciation is an advantage.
