The Bloomfield Group operates two open-cut coal mines in the Hunter Valley, New South Wales. These operations are our Rix’s Creek Mine northwest of Singleton, and our Bloomfield Mine east of Maitland. Coal from the Rix’s Creek Mine and Bloomfield Mine is railed to the Port of Newcastle, and loaded onto ships using Port Waratah Coal Services (PWCS). Bloomfield is a founding member and shareholder of PWCS, and we proudly own and operate Kings Engineering, a leading NSW Engineering business.

About the role

The Bloomfield Group is seeking experienced Fitters / Plant Mechanics to join our Maintenance Team at Rix's Creek Mine. Successful applicants will maintain and repair heavy earthmoving equipment, washing plants and fixed equipment and assets.  They will be responsible for supporting the achievement of safety and production targets by providing a high quality and timely maintenance service to operations within the Bloomfield Group.

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide safe, effective and efficient mechanical maintenance services to the site
  • Work safely while assisting in meeting the required maintenance targets
  • Provide maintenance and breakdown support on mobile and fixed plant
  • Perform quality inspections of machinery and document as per legislative and operational requirements
  • Demonstrate excellent housekeeping and equipment care and encourage others to maintain housekeeping standards

Essential Criteria

  • Proven safe work history and a commitment to zero harm
  • Australian recognised Mechanical trade qualification (Plant Mechanic / Fitter)
  • A minimum of 3 years post trade experience working as a Plant Mechanic / Fitter with open cut mining equipment, and infrastructure.
  • OEM or excavator experience is desirable
  • Knowledge of mechanical standards and statutory requirements
  • Experience in troubleshooting and diagnostics
  • Passionate about maintenance and being the best in all you do
  • Ability to positively communicate within and between teams
  • Appropriate WorkCover tickets required for role (Dogging, Crane, Forklift. EWP)
  • Current NSW Driver's Licence
