The Bloomfield Group operates two open-cut coal mines in the Hunter Valley, New South Wales. These operations are our Rix’s Creek Mine northwest of Singleton, and our Bloomfield Mine east of Maitland. Coal from the Rix’s Creek Mine and Bloomfield Mine is railed to the Port of Newcastle, and loaded onto ships using Port Waratah Coal Services (PWCS). Bloomfield is a founding member and shareholder of PWCS, and we proudly own and operate Kings Engineering, a leading NSW Engineering business.

About the role

The Bloomfield Group is seeking to appoint a Maintenance Planner to join our team at Rix’s Creek Mine Site. The successful candidate will work with our existing Maintenance Planner to provide short and long term planning and scheduling for the Open Cut mining fleet and infrastructure.

Key Responsibilities

  • Plan and schedule the short and long term maintenance tasks, including planned shut downs, on the prime excavator, dozer, and drill fleets, with a particular emphasis on ensuring the weekend opportune maintenance window is properly planned, resourced and scheduled.
  • Plan and schedule the maintenance requirements for infrastructure, fire systems, pumps, lighting plants, tooling, and other plant as required.
  • Ensure components & parts are available for the work being planned.
  • Participate in the development and amendment of equipment maintenance plans for increasing availability, improving reliability and reducing maintenance costs.
  • Being part of a flexible and responsive maintenance team, the role may also involve some direct maintenance Supervision on an as need basis.
  • Assist to confirm all servicing and maintenance work performed in accordance with Company safety requirements, Standard Work Procedures, Management systems, and JSAs.
  • Assist to confirm all plant and equipment is maintained in accordance with the required standard for specific equipment by following documented repair procedures and manufacturers recommendations.
  • Inspect the quality of parts and materials issued from the stores to confirm they meet the required standard(s) and are suitable, prior to installation.
  • Manage contractors to ensure they work safely and productively to scope and/or plan in the most cost effective manner.

Essential Criteria

  • Mechanical trades qualifications from a recognised institution
  • Demonstrated experience in a planning and scheduling role within a mining environment
  • A minimum of 5 years post trade work experience in an open cut mining maintenance environment
  • Good written and verbal communication.
  • Sound knowledge of maintenance planning philosophies and software.
  • Flexibility and willingness to assist others.
  • Previous experience with Pulse mining CMMS and Microsoft Project will be advantageous

Desirable

  • Project or overhaul planning and /or supervision
  • Experience in Plant reliability
  • Experience with Caterpillar, Liebherr, Hitachi equipment
