ENVIRONMENTAL COMPLIANCE TECHNICIAN

The Bloomfield Group has an exciting opportunity for an Environmental Compliance Technician to join our team at Rix’s Creek Mine Site on night shift. The successful candidate will support the Rix’s Creek Environmental Department through the provision of Environmental Compliance monitoring.

The Bloomfield Group operates two open-cut coal mines in the Hunter Valley, New South Wales. These operations are our Rix’s Creek Mine northwest of Singleton, and our Bloomfield Mine east of Maitland. Coal from the Rix’s Creek Mine and Bloomfield Mine is railed to the Port of Newcastle and loaded onto ships using Port Waratah Coal Services (PWCS). Bloomfield is a founding member and shareholder of PWCS. Kings Engineering, a leading NSW Engineering business, and Biodiesel Industries Australia are also operated by the group.

About the role 

This role is a vital part of the team at Rix’s Creek, carrying out monitoring of environmental parameters to manage operational compliance. In this role, you will complete assessments of environmental conditions on site and apply standard procedures to data collection.

Bloomfield has pioneered a proactive noise management framework that combines boots on the ground with the latest science of real-time monitoring, to manage a highly complex noise environment. This role will involve reviewing the predictive model and completing attended noise monitoring around the mine to ensure compliance with operational noise limits.

About You

The successful candidate will have a demonstrated commitment to safe work practices with previous experience in the mining industry held in high regard. You will be a detail-oriented professional with a passion for environmental compliance monitoring, thriving in roles that require precision, accountability, and a proactive approach to problem-solving. With a solid understanding of environmental monitoring practices, you will be confident in applying standard procedures to collect and assess data accurately.

The successful candidate is required to be proficient in Microsoft Office programs and have well developed written and verbal communication skills to enable them to complete shift summary reports.
