About the role
The Bloomfield Group is seeking an experienced Open Cut Examiner to join the Production Team at Rix's Creek Mine. In this key operational role, you will champion a strong safety culture, provide clear direction to production crews, and support the delivery of safe and efficient mining operations. This position will initially be on a Monday to Friday night shift roster.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead, manage, coach and communicate with crews to ensure high standards of safety performance and adherence to mine plans, business systems and Group procedures

Conduct inspections of open cut mining areas, identify hazards, and effectively communicate and control risks

Provide information, instruction, training and supervision to relevant personnel on site

Maximise the effectiveness of resources, including people, machinery, and equipment

Ensure compliance with relevant legislation and escalate issues to the Mine Manager as required

Liaise with engineering teams and tradespeople to support effective and timely maintenance

Work collaboratively with CHPP and train loading teams to ensure appropriate labour allocation

Partner with management and technical services to optimise coal recovery and meet quality standards

Demonstrate strong housekeeping standards and equipment care.
Essential Criteria
- Demonstrated experience fostering a positive safety culture

Strong ability to build collaborative relationships and work with accountability

Proven capability managing competing priorities and making sound decisions for both short‑ and long‑term production outcomes

Certificate of Competence – Open Cut Examiner, including a current Practicing Certificate with evidence of maintenance of competency

Experience working as an OCE in an open cut coal mining environment

Sound knowledge of health and safety legislation

Well‑developed communication and interpersonal skills, with a team‑focused approach

High level of technical knowledge across operational and maintenance requirements

Effective problem‑solving and decision‑making abilities

General proficiency in computer applications
