Disability Support Worker

Growth of our services in the Illawarra has created permanent part-time and casual Disability Support Worker opportunities in our Residential Services. Operating within our Illawarra region, we are seeking those who have availability to work a variety of shifts over a 24/7 roster working across morning, afternoon and nights with shift work included. Finding people with the right availability to match our participants needs is important to us.

What will my role involve? 

Our Disability Support Workers bring pride and passion to the workplace. You will assist people with a range of daily living tasks to meet the individual needs and goals of our participants. This involves:

  • Delivering personal care including showering, toileting, and dressing
  • Preparing and assisting with meal preparation and eating
  • Administering medication and offering mobility assistance
  • Supporting participants with attendance at appointments and community-based events
  • Keeping up to date and accurate shift notes
  • Offering meaningful and active support to enable participants to achieve their goals

Experience in the sector and with participants with challenging behaviours will be highly regarded. However, alignment with our values and the right work ethic is what really sets our team members apart. Our successful Disability Support Workers bring with them: 

  • A genuine desire to provide high level care for people with disability
  • Creative approach in enabling an inclusive experience for people with disability at home and in the community
  • An ability to stay calm in challenging situations
  • Confidence to engage with a diverse range of people, with well-developed negotiation and conflict resolution skills.
  • An understanding of privacy and confidentiality and how to treat sensitive information appropriately 
  • Confidence using a range of technical platforms to complete shift notes, incident reporting, and electronic timesheets
  • Initiative to work independently as well as part of a team
  • Demonstrated awareness of disability

To be successful in the role of Disability Support Worker, you will be required to obtain a Working with Children Check, NDIS Worker Screening Check, First Aid Certificate and evidence of two doses of the COVID-19 vaccination before commencement. You will also be required to have a current driver licence and access to a reliable vehicle.
