Disability Support Worker

Join us at The Disability Trust and be part of a team dedicated to enhancing the lives of individuals with disabilities.We are offering fulfilling casual opportunities within our services for dedicated Disability Support Workers who are passionate about making a positive impact in the lives of our participants. This vital role involves providing support to individuals across Lake Macquarie and the Central Coast both in their homes and in the community with the potential to become part-time in the near future. 

The Opportunity:

Our accommodation services provide 24/7 care to participants both in their home and out in the community. You will be supporting participants to achieve their goals, assist with daily life tasks, medication management, assistance with mealtimes and personal care. Successful candidates will need to be willing to work a variety of shift times including morning, afternoon, overnights and weekends. 

We are looking for individuals with a genuine desire to provide high-quality care for people with disabilities. Key skills include:

  • Ability to enable inclusion for people with disability
  • Excellent communication and computer skills
  • Initiative to work independently and as part of a team
  • Demonstrated empathy and awareness of disability
  • Confidence in using technical platforms for documentation

While no two days are ever quite the same, your day-to-day role responsibilities will look like:

  • Assisting with attendance at appointments and other community-based activities including swimming.
  • Engaging in skill building activities
  • Supporting with personal care
  • Providing meaningful and active support to enable participants to achieve their goals.

  • Confidence using technical platforms to complete shift notes, incident reporting, and electronic timesheets.

A valid Driver Licence and access to a reliable vehicle are essential for both roles. Candidates must also provide evidence of COVID-19 vaccination, NDIS Worker Check & Working With Children Check clearance. A First Aid Certificate is preferred, however we can support you to obtain certification during onboarding. 

What we offer:

Hourly rates range from $33.41 - $45.58 based on casual or part-time employment.
