Disability Support Worker - Café All-Rounder

We are excited to announce the opening of our third café in Hammondville, The Plant Room Café is an Australian Disability Enterprise that facilitates opportunities for people to learn professional skills and gain workplace experience.

 

We're seeking dedicated, enthusiastic individuals to join our team as Café All Rounders/ Disability Support Workers. These permanent part-time positions will start with the opening of the café in mid-January 2025.

 

As a Café All Rounder, you'll leverage your hospitality experience to help run the day-to-day operations of our café. Your responsibilities will include preparing simple café menu items and short-order cooking, managing venue presentation, general cleaning, handling cash, and providing excellent customer service. Above all, you will take pride in delivering exceptional service with a friendly and inclusive approach.

In addition, you'll play a vital role in supporting people with disabilities, mentoring and coaching them to help achieve their workplace goals and foster greater independence. You'll contribute to an encouraging and supportive workplace environment that empowers our participants.

 

Paid Training:

 

We believe in investing in our team. You will have access to paid onboarding training starting 13 January 2024, lasting for two weeks. This training will include a mix of face-to-face sessions and online modules, giving you the confidence to effectively support people with disabilities in the café environment. Please note, you must be available for the training to be considered for the role.

 

About You:

  • Minimum 6 months experience working in a cafe or restaurant environment
  • Passion for supporting people with disability achieve their work goals within the café 
  • Exceptional customer service skills to create a positive, inclusive environment for people with disability and our customers
  • Ability to work within a fast-paced environment
  • A team player that brings a strong and flexible work ethic
  • Willingness to obtain NDIS Worker Check, Working With Childrens Check and FSS Certification (we can help you with this if you are successful)
  • Drivers Licence and access to a reliable vehicle
