Team Leader Development Program - Hunter

Job No: TDT2438
Location: Lake Macquarie & Newcastle

At The Disability Trust, we offer more than just a job.

We are calling on future leaders in our Lake Macquarie and Newcastle team to participate in our exclusive Team Leader Development Program.

Take the next step in your career in a unique learning opportunity where you will develop the capabilities and confidence to excel as a Team Leader. You will be immersed in a tailored program that focuses on practical, on-the-job skill development through supportive mentorship. Over the course of 6 months, you can expect to learn, do, and be involved with:

  • incident investigation and risk management
  • understanding Roster of Care (RoC)
  • Stakeholder engagement and collaboration with participants and their support networks, including families, carers, service providers, and allied health practitioners.
  • Supporting your team's success through coaching new staff and overseeing placement supervision
  • finding the right people for the right role through participation in interview and selection activity
  • running effective team meetings - scheduling attendance, setting an agenda, and taking minutes
  • learning about petty cash reconciliation, participant finances, and SIL irregular supports.

This program provides applicants exposure to the duties and responsibilities of a Team Leader, whilst being able to call on your supportive mentor to help guide you and answer questions that arise.

On program completion you will achieve a robust skillset which sees you confidently apply for permanent Team Leader opportunities as they arise.

A future leader at TDT is someone who is:

  • A Trust champion - you are an ambassador for our values, both at work, at home, and in the community
  • A natural communicator - you engage with people of all backgrounds with proven success in creating partnerships with participants and their support networks to achieve outcomes.
  • Confident - in navigating complex relationships, creating partnerships, and having those tough conversations when needed.
  • Organised - you show finesse in managing time and juggling multiple work priorities at once.
  • Computer savvy - you are familiar with Microsoft Office and use various internal systems to complete work tasks.
  • Reliable - your team describes you as someone who can be counted on. You put your hand up to help others, take initiative, and give your all in everything you do.

Sound like you? Opportunity awaits.

Our investment in you calls for your commitment to us. Successful program participants will need to participate in weekly development activities, including willingness to undertake rostered shifts across all service types and locations within your region.

If you're ready to grow your career, we look forward to hearing from you. Write to us with an expression of interest (max.1 page) detailing how you are one of our future leaders. We also require endorsement from your current manager or team leader. Kindly ask them to complete the attached Reference Form and upload it with your application.
