Financial and Systems Accountant

About the role:

The Financial and Systems Accountant is a valued member of the Finance team and plays a critical role in supporting accurate financial reporting, maintaining the general ledger, and optimizing financial systems. The role bridges traditional financial accounting with systems administration to ensure that the organisation’s financial operations are both compliant and strategically aligned.

Further responsibilities and duties include:

  • Administer the Finance System and other ancillary systems and ensure effective integration and reporting.
  • Ensure the financial and ancillary systems are maintained and fit for purpose.
  • Design and generate reports to support management and compliance functions.
  • Identify and drive opportunities for system improvements and automation.
  • Assist in the preparation of financial statements in accordance with accounting standards.
  • Assist with internal and external audits including preparation of supporting documentation.
  • Ensure integrity of general ledger through reconciliations and analysis.

This is a permanent full-time opportunity based in either our Coniston (NSW) or Dandenong South (VIC) office. To be successful in the role, you will be required to provide a current Working with Children Check and NDIS Worker Screening Clearance.

As our newest team member, we will value your:

  • Relevant tertiary qualification - Accounting or Finance and CPA/CA qualification (or working towards).
  • Experience in Financial Systems Administration - Demonstrated experience in administering and maintaining financial systems, with a strong understanding of system structures, controls, and workflows.
  • Technical Proficiency - Proficiency in using financial management software and Microsoft Excel. Experience with Technology One is essential.
  • Strong Analytical and Problem-Solving Skills - Proven ability to identify, analyse, and resolve issues relating to financial data and systems, ensuring accuracy and integrity in reporting.
  • Knowledge of Financial Reporting and Accounting Principles - Sound understanding of financial reporting standards and accounting practices, with experience supporting end-to-end reporting processes.
  • Commitment to Continuous Improvement - Demonstrated experience in identifying opportunities to improve systems and processes, and leading or supporting implementation of enhancements.
  • Effective Communication and Stakeholder Engagement - Strong interpersonal skills, with the ability to communicate effectively with finance and non-finance stakeholders and provide user support and training where required.
  • Attention to Detail and Accuracy - High level of accuracy and attention to detail in all aspects of financial data management and reporting.
