Disability Support Worker

We have paid training commencing 12 August for 2 weeks which you must be available for. 

We are looking for passionate, creative and enthusiastic individuals to join our Southern Highlands team on a causal basis as a Disability Support Worker. 

Within our Home and Living Services, you will be responsible for supporting participants with their personal care needs, whilst encouraging their involvement within the community and assisting them to live independently in their homes. Our Home & Living services require availability over a 24/7 roster which includes weekend, day, evening, sleepover and active night shifts. 

Our Community Support Services cater to people with varying disabilities. Services include school leaver employment supports, youth and day programs that have a strong focus on community participation and building independent living skills. Day Programs require availability from Monday to Friday between 8:00am and 4:00pm, whilst Individualised Supports require availability between Monday to Sunday during the day and some evenings.  

We are seeking those who have availability at sometimes short notice, to work a variety of shifts over a 24/7 roster working across early mornings, afternoons, nights and sleepovers included. 

See below an example of shifts available to offer on a rotating basis: 

Monday: 6am-9:30am, 6am-2pm, 8am-4pm, 9am-12pm
Tuesday: 6am-12pm, 6am-3pm, 11:30am-2:30pm, 4pm-8am (sleepover)
Wednesday: 6am-12pm, 12pm-3pm, 3pm-8pm, 4pm-8am (sleepover)
Thursday: 6am-10:30am, 6am-3pm, 8am-4pm, 3pm-8pm
Friday: 6am-2pm, 7am-10am, 3pm-7pm, 4pm-8am (sleepover)
Saturday: 6am-3pm, 7am-10pm, 9am-1pm, 12pm-8pm, 7pm-10:30pm
Sunday: 6am-3pm, 2pm-8am, 4pm-8am (sleepover)

What You Need to Succeed:

  • A genuine desire and passion to support people with disability. 
  • Excellent communication skills and confidence to engage with new people.
  • An understanding of privacy, confidentiality and how to appropriately treat sensitive information.
  • Knowledge and/or experience with mental health supports is highly desirable. 
  • Flexibility and adaptability to work on a 24-hour rotating roster.
  • Cleared NDIS and WWC Checks
  • Valid Australian Driver Licence and access to a reliable vehicle
  • Fully Covid Vaccinated (2 vaccinations)
