The Opportunity

Our team are seeking two full-time Behaviour Support Practitioners, one as an experienced practitioner, and the other as an entry level position, perfect for post study/University.

As an experienced Behaviour Support Practitioner, you will be responsible for the management of a complex case load and adept in the restrictive practices processes. You will be deemed suitable at proficient or above level within the NDIS Quality Safeguards Capability Framework for Behaviour Support Practitioners and have a high level of capacity to engage stakeholders and maintain high standards of documentation and practice.

As an entry level Behaviour Support Practitioner, you will be a driven and compassionate individual looking to kick start their career whilst being supported within a well-resourced team. You will provide support to our clinical team with complex referrals providing person-centred health, mobility and social outcomes for people with disability. If you are not already deemed suitable as a Behaviour Support Practitioner within the NDIS Quality Safeguards Commission, we can support you with this.

The day-to-day responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

  • Assessing client needs, developing and implementing comprehensive behaviour support plans and implementing strategies to promote positive behaviour changes.
  • Collaborating with participants, their families, carers, guardian and other stakeholders in the development of behaviour support strategies.
  • Working collaboratively with the clinical team to promote a better understanding of positive approaches to behaviour support.
  • Monitor and analyse service trends to identify service improvement opportunities.
  • Develop training resources related to behaviour support to ensure high quality training is being provided to support workers and management.
  • Proficient use of our client management system, Carelink.

This position is based at our head office in the Illawarra and will require travel to other areas of operation with a remuneration package between $110,000 - $130,000 (to be negotiated based on experience & qualifications) inclusive of travel and phone allowance & superannuation.

What you will bring to the role

  • Formal qualification; eg: Social Work, Counselling, Psychology or Allied Health disciplines, and/or experience in delivery of Positive Behaviour Support.
  • Ideally, you will bring 3+ years experience as a Behaviour Support Practitioner or have recently completed study in this field.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of Positive Behaviour Support and Restrictive Practices.
  • Demonstrated knowledge in assessing and planning intervention for people who exhibit a range of behaviours of concern; especially high-risk behaviours.
  • An understanding of relevant policy and legislation relating to Behaviour Support and Restrictive Practices at a National, State/Territory level, including the NDIS Quality and Safeguards Commission Capability Framework.
  • Experience delivering supports in a culturally sensitive manner and a willingness to work and train in culturally appropriate approaches.
  • Sound IT skills and experience using Word, Excel and client management systems.
  • Driver License, own car and a willingness to travel.
