Our Tom Fitzgerald Aged Care Home offers affordable, high-quality accommodation and care to people aged 50 years and over.  We provide a safe, flexible and caring family-style environment, which allows residents to maintain their chosen lifestyles, habits and activities and to be as independent as they choose to be.

 

Your new role

We are currently seeking a proactive Personal Care Assistant to join our friendly and dynamic residential team at our Tom Fitzgerald Residential Aged Care Home on a Part-Time basis.  This is a Fixed term position with an 8 month contract running from the 3rd of November 2024 to the 16th of July 2025.

Your fortnightly roster will be as below:

Week 1 – Thursday (0700 – 1500)

Week 2 – Thursday, Friday, Saturday and Sunday (0700 – 1500)

 

Successful candidates will have the capacity to undertake all the above shifts

 

Your responsibilities and duties will include:

  • Assisting residents with personal care including personal hygiene, dressing, grooming and other activities of daily living
  • Observing and reporting changes in resident’s behaviour or physical condition
  • Undertaking medication management and treatment procedures as directed by the Residential Site Manager or person in charge
  • Liaising with medical practitioners, pharmacists and other health services to provide relevant services for the care and wellbeing of the residents
  • Assisting in the implementation of cigarette and alcohol programs
  • Observing and reporting changes in residents behaviour or physical condition and maintain appropriate documentation as required

We are looking for candidates with the following:

  • Ability to work both in team and autonomously
  • Certificate III/IV in Aged Care/Individual Support
  • Completion of medication administration unit (HLTHPS006 - Assist Clients with Medication)
  • Prior experience in housing & homelessness support, aged care, welfare, disability support, mental health or community/home care
  • Keen eye for detail
  • Excellent communication skills
  • The ability to enhance or maintain our residents independence and lifestyle
  • A friendly and non-judgmental attitude
