Your new role
We are currently seeking a proactive Personal Care Assistant to join our friendly and dynamic residential team at our Tom Fitzgerald Residential Aged Care Home on a Casual Basis. This engaging role will have you providing quality, respectful care that supports residents to stay independent and enjoy more lifestyle choices. Your valuable work will support a more personal and homely way of care in line with the Wintringham values.
Your responsibilities and duties will include:
- Assisting residents with personal care including personal hygiene, dressing, grooming and other activities of daily living
- Observing and reporting changes in resident’s behaviour or physical condition
- Undertaking medication management and treatment procedures as directed by the Residential Site Manager or person in charge
- Liaising with medical practitioners, pharmacists and other health services to provide relevant services for the care and wellbeing of the residents
- Assisting in the implementation of cigarette and alcohol programs
- Observing and reporting changes in residents behaviour or physical condition and maintain appropriate documentation as required
We are looking for candidates with the following:
- Ability to work both in team and autonomously
- Certificate III/IV in Aged Care/Individual Support
- Completion of medication administration unit (HLTHPS006 - Assist Clients with Medication)
- Prior experience in housing & homelessness support, aged care, welfare, disability support, mental health or community/home care
- Keen eye for detail
- Excellent communication skills
- The ability to enhance or maintain our residents independence and lifestyle
- A friendly and non-judgmental attitude
