EOI - Chief Mate to join the marine crew on our transshipment vessel the “Lucky Eyre”. Do you hold a Chief Mate unlimited CoC or a Master unlimited CoC? 

 

About T-Ports
T-Ports operates a transshipment vessel, MV Lucky Eyre, which is 87 meters long in Lucky Bay on the Eyre Peninsula and Wallaroo on the Yorke Peninsula, South Australia. T-Ports specialises in grain storage, bulk handling, and transshipping. T-Ports transships grain from Port 6 nautical miles offshore and then transfers the grain into ocean going vessels, using cutting edge transshipment technology. About the role
The Chief Mate will assist the Master with the safe operation of the vessel. To ensure policies and procedures are carried out safely and efficiently while maintaining a high quality of standards and practices. You will be required to operate the Material Handling System and be responsible for the cargo operations on board.

 

  • Casual on-going position
  • Reporting to and assisting the Master with the safe operation of the Vessel.
  • Responsible for safe and efficient cargo operations (loading/unloading), including supervising of the Material Handling System & personnel.  
  • Ensure that all tasks on board are performed in accordance with State and National legislation and regulations and company policies.
  • Comply with the Vessel Safety Management System.
  • Comply with Workplace Health, and Safety procedures.
  • Work closely with shoreside terminal personnel to ensure efficient and safe operations.
  • Responsible for preparations of the vessel for various regular external inspections.
  • Responsible for coordinating and supervising all relevant onboard safety checks, inspections, and maintenance programs.
  • Any other duties requested by the Master.

This position is a significant key to the operational success of the Transshipment Vessel Lucky Eyre and requires a dynamic “can-do” approach.

  • Minimum valid AMSA Chief Mate Unlimited CoC - Essential
  • Valid AMSA Certificate of Medical Fitness - Essential
  • Must have Australian work rights – Essential
  • Strong computer literacy - Essential
  • AMSA Master Unlimited Coc – Desirable
  • Transshipping experience – Desirable
  • Hands on ship handling experience >500gt – Desirable
