T-Ports specialises in bulk handling, storage and transhipping of grain using cutting edge facilities and equipment. T-Ports operates two transshipment Ports on the Spencer Gulf, one at Lucky Bay on the Eyre Peninsula and one at Wallaroo on the Yorke Peninsula. As well as the two transshipment Ports, T-Ports operates up-country grain storage sites at Lock and Kimba and a transshipment vessel “Lucky Eyre” that discharges grain into ocean-going vessels at sea. About The Role:

Reporting to the General Manager – Compliance, Marine and People the Marine Superintendent is responsible for the safe execution of onboard operations, including vessel and personnel safety, cargo operations, navigation, crew management, statutory compliance, and crew welfare. Working closely with the operations team you will lead the development and implementation of productivity and efficiency initiatives to maximise vessel performance. This position is the direct communication between the TSV and other business units within T-Ports while assisting shoreside management with compliance and leading special marine projects for the TSV.

  • Advise Management and the Executive, on technical, regulatory, crewing, training, and vessel budgetary requirements for the MV Lucky Eyre and marine operations.
  • Correspond with AMSA, Classification Societies, regulatory bodies and 3rd party organisations as required in the execution of vessel compliance activities and special projects as approved by the executive.
  • Monitoring all vessel approvals, certificates, and surveys to ensure renewals and certification are always valid.
  • In conjunction with the Asset and Maintenance Planners, develop and execute docking plans and annual maintenance periods within budget and timeframes.
  • Keep abreast of industry changes and changes that may affect the business.
  • Communicate agreed Company and role expectations and manage crew accordingly.
  • Adhere to all legislative requirements, HSE and T Ports policies and procedures.
  • Champion and instill a culture of equality, inclusiveness, transparency, diversity and working harmoniously. This extends to service users and stakeholders.
  • Collaborate with Portside personnel to ensure synergies with hygiene, labour, inspections, documentation, quality, and safety.
  • Perform duties of Port Management Officer under delegated authority per the requirements of the Harbors and Navigation Act 1993

 

About You:

  • Valid Master (Unlimited) - Certificate of Competency/Recognition issued by AMSA, or Engineer Class 3 or above.
  • Previous experience in a similar role
  • Valid AMSA Certificate of Medical Fitness.
  • Comprehensive understanding of environmental issues relevant to T-Ports Port locations.
  • Strong understanding and working knowledge of policies and procedures related to environmental obligations, and the following Acts and supporting regulations: Environmental Protection Act and Regulations, ISO 14001, MARPOL.
