About the Role
Reporting to the Maintenance Manager, the Maintenance Team Leader will be responsible for leading maintenance activities across the Lucky Bay, Lock, Kimba operations, and providing support to marine engineers on T-Ports vessels, while managing a small team of multi-skilled tradespeople.
This role is Full-time 38hrs per week and requires a strong technical background, excellent leadership skills and a proactive approach to maintenance planning and execution. You will play a key role in ensuring the reliability and availability of fixed plant, mobile equipment, marine assets and supporting infrastructure.
The position offers a balance of leadership, coordination, planning, and hands-on maintenance work.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead, mentor, and support a small team of maintenance technicians and contractors.
- Coordinate daily maintenance activities and prioritise workloads to meet operational requirements.
- Ensure all plant and equipment operate safely and at optimum performance.
- Carry out and oversee preventative, corrective, and breakdown maintenance.
- Diagnose and troubleshoot mechanical and electrical faults.
- Develop and execute planned maintenance schedules.
- Manage maintenance work orders and records using the MEX CMMS system.
- Monitor and maintain critical spare parts inventory.
- Support maintenance budgeting and cost control initiatives.
- Drive continuous improvement across maintenance systems, processes, and asset reliability.
- Ensure compliance with all safety, environmental, and quality standards.
- Participate in the on-call roster as required.
About You
We are seeking a proactive and safety-focused leader with strong technical capabilities and a commitment to continuous improvement.
Essential Requirements
- Trade qualification in one of the following:
- Mechanical Fitter
- Maintenance Fitter
- Fitter & Turner
- Unrestricted Electrical Licence
- Previous leadership, supervisory, or team coordination experience.
- Strong fault-finding and troubleshooting skills.
- Experience maintaining fixed plant, conveyors, mobile plant, hydraulic and pneumatic systems, or industrial equipment.
- Experience using CMMS software such as MEX or SAP.
- Strong communication and stakeholder management skills.
- Computer literacy, including Microsoft Office applications.
- Current C Class Driver's Licence.
- Ability to work safely at heights and within confined spaces (or willingness to obtain certifications).
Desirable
- Dogging and/or Rigging, EWP and Scissor lift qualifications.
- Experience within grain handling, bulk materials handling, ports, marine operations, manufacturing, mining, or agribusiness environments.
- Knowledge of reliability-centred maintenance principles.
- Experience with maintenance planning and scheduling.
