Job Description:
The HR Administrator is responsible for areas such as recruiting, hiring, compensation, and benefits. He/she will gather and maintain information on employee training, skills, wages, promotions and general work history. The duties consist of policies, training, labour relations, relocation, diversity, education, recruiting and other HR programs. He/she will provide resolutions and consulting in the above areas to ensure profitable business operations.
Job Duties:
- Communicate to internal stakeholders in human resources policies, procedures, laws, standards and regulations
- Plan and coordinate staff events and recreational activities as requested
- Provide assistance to employee relation issues e.g. employee complaints and harassment allegations
- Develop and provide recommendations for policies and processes
- Maintain apprentice tracking and progress sheets
- Administer orientation and training within the organization
- Administer and record employee recognition and incentive programs
- Assist/administer salary structure, position documentation, and an evaluation system
- Administer and educate employees of benefits and maintain a sustainable relationship with insurance provider
- Coordinate and update intranet site
- Update and maintain website and social media accounts
- Plan, organize and attend recruitment fairs as requested
- Build and sustain beneficial relationships with employment agencies and educational institutions
- Perform interviews, screens, and recruit for entry level, professional and technical job openings
- Ensure the compatibility of applicants to job positions
- Create and post job advertisements
- Maintain the Applicant Tracking System
- Keep job descriptions current
- Complete Payroll duties when required, provide additional training for Payroll
- Ensure effective exit interviews are conducted and provide management with tracking and recommendations
- Recommend, develop and maintain human resource data bases, computer software systems, and manual filing systems
- Maintain accurate, up to date and complete personnel records including administration on new hire packages
- Develop document tracking systems and track company probation and performance reviews including outcomes and commitments
Essential Skills and Qualifications
- Minimum of 3 years direct high volume recruitment experience in the construction industry
- 5 years experience in Human Resources
- Minimum of HR Diploma or actively working towards
- Experience and ability to do web design and updates
- Intermediate graphic design skills for integration of job postings
- Previous experience completing Payroll and Benefits Administration
- Previous experience in managing Apprenticeship programs in BC, AB and NT
- Experience in using ERP system
- Advanced MS Office skills, including Excel
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills with an ability to interact with a diverse group
