Truck Driver - Chipper

We are seeking a truck driver chipper to carry out duties for Council's Parks and Active Communities Unit.

The position includes the operation of all allied equipment utilised by the tree unit including the chipper, stump grinder and chainsaws and is responsible for the daily maintenance and operation of the chipper truck.

We are seeking someone with:

  • a current Class MR driver's licence
  • literacy and numeracy skills to ensure efficient and accurate reading of job instructions, maintenance of records and completion of standard reports
  • competence in the use of a chainsaw, stump grinder and chipper

Essential:

  • Current Vehicle Licence – Medium Rigid (or in the process of obtaining).
  • Demonstrated competence in the use of a chainsaw.
  • Competence in the use of a stump grinder and chipper.
  • Literacy and numeracy skills at a level sufficient to enable reading of job instructions, operation and maintenance manuals and to complete work records.
  • General Construction Induction Card (White Card).
  • Demonstrated competence in plant maintenance and cleaning procedures.
  • Demonstrated effective oral and written communication skills.
  • Demonstrated competence in record-keeping.
  • Demonstrated capacity to work as a member of a team.

Desirable:

  • ChemCert chemical spray accreditation.
  • Level 1 Chainsaw operator ticket.
  • Hold current crane and plant electrical safety accreditation (previously 5099 certificate).
  • Sound knowledge of the Tweed Shire road network.
