Business Development Officer

This exciting role is responsible for promoting and delivering business and industry initiatives that foster a thriving and sustainable local economy and assist business to succeed in the Tweed. The objective is to support new and existing businesses and drive long-term sustainable economic growth and opportunities for the Tweed.

About the role:

  • You will coordinate strategic business and industry development initiatives and projects aligned to the Tweed and NSW regional plans. This includes programs and events that attract and support businesses so they can succeed in Tweed.
  • You will connect and collaborate with business and industry, business chambers and regional stakeholders requiring some flexibility of work hours to attend business events.
  • You will be a great communicator and key point of contact for business and industry to connect them to the business advice and support they need to achieve their goals.
  • You will secure and manage grant applications for business and industry initiatives.
  • You will be part of the Destination and Industry Development team that makes a difference by contributing to a vibrant community so that Tweed is a great place to live and visit.

We are seeking:

  • A great communicator and connector who thrives on meeting people and working with them to build strong relationships, deliver positive outcomes and celebrate success.
  • Experience in coordinating projects and programs that deliver economic outcomes.
  • A passion for organising and hosting business and industry events and initiatives such as capacity building workshops, networking events, and placemaking and activations in CBD areas.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills to build relationships and communicate in plain language and with impact.
  • Experience in securing and aquitting grant funding.
  • A team player with the ability to work productively and collaboratively to deliver results.

Where it's located:

This position is based in Murwillumbah, and can be directed to work from any Council work site.
