We have an excellent opportunity for a Ganger - Parks to contribute to improvements to the open space network within the Shire, and to supervise staff to complete coordinated maintenance and customer work requests.  

About the role:

  • coordinate, supervise and undertake maintenance and development of Council's open space network
  • ensure the safe, effective and efficient use of Council's parks network by our local community
  • contribute to improvements through identification, design and construction of projects within Council's parks and reserves

Where it's located:

This position is based in Cabarita (Tweed Coast), and can be directed to work from any Council work site.

Essential: 

1. Current Vehicle Licence – Medium Rigid or be eligible to obtain.

2. Appropriate Trade/Craftsman Certificate such as Gardener, Nursery Tradesperson etc.

3. Appropriate chemical users certificate. (Chemcert certificate).

4. Demonstrated competence in supervision of staff, plant and physical resources for maintenance activities.

5. Demonstrated competence in estimating work activity resources, operation and quality controls.

6. Demonstrated competence in site and roadway traffic control.

7. Demonstrated high level oral communication skills.

8. Demonstrated competence in appropriate record keeping and report writing.

9. Demonstrated competence in implementing environmental protection devices.

10. Demonstrated competence in reading and understanding Landscape plans/drawings.

11. Demonstrated competence in preparing cost estimates for maintenance work to the value of $5,000

12. Demonstrated competence in care and maintenance of public parks and garden areas.

13. Demonstrate competence to design and construct minor/major landscape projects.

 

Desirable:

14. General Construction Induction Card (White Card)

15. Demonstrate competence in handling public enquiries, complaints and minor conflicts.

16. Demonstrated sound knowledge of Council’s Maintenance Management System.

17. Demonstrated sound knowledge of Council’s Safety and Environmental Management Systems.
