These professional positions, within the high performing Construction and Contracts Section, are responsible for managing multiple projects and contracts within Council’s annual $100M plus capital works program.

We’re looking for people with sound project management, construction management and contractual management and/or procurement experience, who are a good communicators.  You’ll be a motivated forward thinker, dedicated to driving improvements and value for money for the organisation.

About the roles: 

  • Provides high quality project management, construction management, procurement and contract management to all areas of the organisation
  • Requires a high degree of initiative and independence and will normally resolve issues with minimal reference
  • Requires strong written and communication skills
  • Will have required technical knowledge to deliver projects in the fields of Water, Sewerage, Civil, Structural Building, Mechanical, Instrumentation and Electrical Engineering (Project Management and Construction Engineer roles).

What's on offer:

An attractive base salary depending upon skills, knowledge and experience.  The Job Grade will be determined by the panel as follows:

  • Job Grade 6 (Procurement Officer): from $79,092 with increments up to $93,685 plus 11% super
  • Job Grade 6 (Graduate Construction Engineer): from $79,092 with increments up to $93,685 plus 11% super, plus the option for a lease back vehicle
  • Job Grade 7: (Construction Engineer): from $92,107 per annum with increments up to $106,005 per annum, plus 11% super, plus the option for a lease back vehicle
  • Job Grade 7: (Project Manager): from $92,107 per annum with increments up to $106,005 per annum, plus 11% super
  • Job Grade 8: (Project Manager): from $111,655 per annum with increments up to $124,148 per annum, plus 11% super, plus the option for a lease back vehicle

We are seeking:

  • Project Manager Roles:
    • Degree qualifications in Engineering, Construction or relevant discipline and substantial technical experience and competence in a similar role
    • High level of competence in project and contract management and the ability to manage multi-discipline projects simultaneously; including contract supervision and close out 
    • Ability to provide expert technical advice, review and supervision of contracts, engineering designs and construction methods for civil works, mechanical and electrical works, and building works.
  • Construction Engineer and Graduate Construction Engineer Roles:
    • Degree qualifications in Engineering and substantial technical experience and competence in a similar role (Graduate may be in their final year of study).
    • High level of competence in project and construction management and the ability to manage multi-discipline projects simultaneously; including contract and construction supervision and close out (Not expected for Graduate level).
    • Ability to provide expert technical advice, review and supervision of contracts, engineering designs and construction methods for civil works (not expected for Graduate level).
  • Procurement Officer:
    • Diploma qualification in procurement/contract administration or relevant discipline or extensive experience in a similar role
    • Experience in contracts management software and competence in MS Office software systems
    • Ability to build and maintain strong relationships with internal and external customer.
