Technical Officer - Development Assessment

The responsibilities of this role are to assist with all aspects of the Development Assessment process including lodging, preparing and issuing of development related applications. Whilst the primary focus of the position is on development assessment, council's integrated approach to planning matters will, from time to time require the undertaking of work associated with strategic planning.

About the role:

  • Assist our experienced Town Planners to assess and process development applications.
  • Undertake written correspondence regarding development matters and general customer service regarding development assessment.
  • Provide advice and information on development and related matters to the general public, applicants, government authorities, consultants and other members of staff.
  • Undertake work associated with strategic planning from time to time.

We are seeking: 

  • Demonstrated high level of verbal and written communication skills.
  • Demonstrated ability to manage complaints generated by members of the public, government bodies or other stakeholders which relate to developments.
  • Demonstrated customer service skills and experience, including a front counter environment.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of the development process in a local government context.

Where it's located:

This position is based in Murwillumbah and can be directed to work from any Council work site.

Essential:
