Join our team as a Nature Care Group Supervisor to make a real difference in environmental stewardship and community collaboration. You’ll play a vital role in supporting registered volunteer groups working on Council-managed land. Responsibilities include overseeing volunteer activities, managing resources, and ensuring a safe, engaging work environment.

About the role:

  • Provide regular on-site supervision to Council’s volunteer Nature Care Groups working on Council-owned or managed land.
  • Oversee the administrative tasks related to volunteer care groups, ensuring smooth operations and effective communication.
  • Assist with developing and delivering training programs to equip volunteers with the necessary skills and knowledge for their work activities.
  • Manage the supply, inventory and distribution of equipment and materials needed for volunteer work.
  • Ensure Nature Care Group volunteers have access to the resources, training, and materials needed to perform activities and tasks according to approved work plans and Council policies.
  • Implement and follow risk management procedures
  • Assist with the development and/or review of Nature Care Group site and work plans

We are seeking:

  • Passionate about nature conservation and community engagement.
  • Qualification and experience in bush regeneration, horticulture, natural area management or similar.
  • Organised and detail oriented.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills are necessary to interact with volunteers, care group coordinators, and other stakeholders.
  • Competent with maintaining digital records using Excel and other database management software, and report writing using Microsoft Word.

Where it's located:

This position is based in Murwillumbah and can be directed to work from any Council work site.
