We are seeking a skilled and reliable Maintenance and Workshop Support Officer to play a vital role in maintaining and enhancing Council-built assets. This hands-on role offers a variety of tasks, including equipment maintenance, workshop upkeep, and providing support to our Signwriting Trades Team. Additional responsibilities include delivering materials, ensuring worksite cleanliness, and addressing vandalism-related repairs. Experienced candidates will have the opportunity to work independently on tasks such as sign installation, surface preparation, and minor repairs. This role offers a dynamic and rewarding work environment with a strong emphasis on safety and quality. A tool allowance may apply.

About the role:

  • Perform regular maintenance and cleaning of workshops, plant, and equipment to ensure a safe and efficient work environment.
  • Assist our Sign Shop tradespeople with all signage maintenance activities including manufacturing, installation, repairs and disposal of signage. 
  • Respond to vandalism-related repairs and assist in emergency maintenance to protect and maintain public assets.
  • Deliver materials and equipment to work sites, perform site clean-up upon project completion, and undertake independent tasks such as sign installation, surface preparation, and minor repairs.

We are seeking:

  • Strong literacy and numeracy skills for reading job instructions, maintaining records, and completing reports.
  • A current Vehicle Licence (Car) with a willingness to obtain a Medium Rigid Licence if not already held.
  • Excellent oral communication skills to manage public enquiries, handle complaints, and resolve minor conflicts.
  • Sound knowledge and experience in building maintenance and repairs.
  • Ability to work both independently and as part of a team, with a demonstrated capacity to follow instructions and work unsupervised.

This position is based in Murwillumbah, and can be directed to work from any Council work site.
