As Engineer Network Operations, you will lead a small, dedicated team and manage maintenance contracts and minor projects for Water and Wastewater networks. This role involves overseeing procurement, providing engineering technical guidance and customer advice and ensuring asset maintenance levels of service are met. Assisting management of a $12M annual budget, you will support operational planning, monitor performance, and act as the key technical contact for network maintenance. About the role:

  • Lead a small dedicated team of 5 technical professionals and tradespersons.
  • Manage maintenance contracts for water and wastewater networks assets.
  • Deliver engineering support for the operation and maintenance of Council’s Water Supply and Wastewater network systems.
  • Providing engineering technical advice, adhering to regulations, specifications, standards and Council’s policy/procedures to both internal and external contacts relating to water and sewerage operations.

We are seeking:

  • Bachelor of Engineering Degree in relevant field, or Diploma qualification together with significant demonstrated water and wastewater industry experience and willingness to undertake Engineering degree studies.
  • Have a solid understanding of Water and Sewerage System operations, related engineering disciplines such as civil and hydraulics, and all applicable legislation and standards.
  • Experience in contract and/or project management and administration, along with proficiency in Local Government Engineering, including regulations, design, construction, operation, and maintenance of water and wastewater services.
  • Ability to lead a small team with high focus on teamwork, respect, and communication values.

This position is based in Chinderah and can be directed to work from any Council work site.
