About the Apprenticeship:
Tweed Shire Council is proud to offer an Apprenticeship with our Water and Wastewater - Operations team. As an apprentice, you'll gain hands-on experience while completing a Certificate III Electrotechnology Electrician.
As an Apprentice Electrician, you will assist our electricians to provide electrical maintenance, installation, response, diagnostic and repair services for Tweed Shire Council Water and Wastewater Unit. This is a fantastic opportunity to start your career as an Electrician.
In order to meet the requirements of the Apprenticeship, successful completion of on-the-job training and studies is required.
What you'll do:
- Assist in the provision of electrical services for Council Operated Assets including water and sewer pump stations, treatment plants, telemetry, building power and lighting, public lighting, data communication and emergency lighting.
- Learn technical knowledge to diagnose and respond to electrical breakdowns, determining and implementing repairs or remediation.
- Develop understanding of and learn how to make changes to electrical drawings for diagnostics and installation purposes.
- Learn and apply relevant Australian Standards, Regulations and Service rules related to electrical work
- Develop industrial experience, particularly with pumping systems and associated control and monitoring equipment.
- Assist with general building and data installation electrical tasks under the guidance of qualified electricians.
- Receive mentorship from the Water and Wastewater - Operations team to help you succeed.

What we're looking for:
- a genuine interest in electrical work
- a strong work ethic and willingness to learn
- Completed (or working towards) Certificate II in Electrotechnology - or relevant industry experience
- ready to commit to completing your apprenticeship - including attending TAFE and getting hands-on experience.
- a team player who’s not afraid to get their hands dirty
- a positive attitude and self-motivation
- a current driver’s licence
- finished Year 12 with solid literacy and numeracy skills
- a General Construction Induction Card (White Card) – or willingness to obtain.
