Technical Assistant - Water Supply and Quality

Join our team as a Water Quality Assistant, supporting the delivery of safe, high-quality water across the Tweed network. You’ll carry out inspections, testing, minor repairs, and respond to community enquiries—sometimes independently and occasionally in emergencies. This hands-on role suits someone practical, detail-focused, and confident working at heights with a strong sense of responsibility.

We are seeking:

  • Support the Technical Officer in maintaining water quality across the reticulation network through reservoir inspections, testing, and minor repairs.
  • Carry out tasks such as chlorine dosing, equipment maintenance, and responding to public enquiries or complaints.
  • Assist with contractor oversight, minor plumbing work, and liaising with internal and external departments for facility access.
  • Perform accurate sampling, data recording, and basic computer tasks, with the ability to step into the Technical Officer role when needed.
  • Work safely at heights and be available for occasional call-outs during water quality emergencies.

Where it's located:

This position is based in Murwillumbah, and can be directed to work from any Council work site.
