About the role:

This hands-on role ensures the safe operation and maintenance of Council’s water and wastewater networks, protecting public health and the environment. Working largely independently, you’ll carry out inspections, repairs, sampling, and supervise small teams and contractors on-site. The role requires strong technical skills, digital competency, and the ability to lead, communicate and respond to emergencies when needed.

We are seeking:

  • Skilled in operating and maintaining water and wastewater assets to protect public health and the environment.
  • Confident working independently and supervising small teams and contractors on-site.
  • Competent with digital field tools, GIS systems and accurate data entry.
  • Strong communicator with a focus on teamwork, customer service and community engagement.
  • Flexible and reliable, with the ability to respond to emergencies and participate in on-call duties.
  • The position may be part of the Water Unit’s 24-hour “on-call” service on a rotational basis. The position may be “called out” to provide an emergency response.

Where it's located:

This position is based in Tweed Heads and can be directed to work from any Council work site.
