Take charge of delivering Council’s $30M+ annual capital works program for water and wastewater infrastructure. This is a high-impact leadership role for an experienced engineer passionate about delivering critical projects that support the health, growth and sustainability of the Tweed community.
About the role:
- Manage the end-to-end delivery of water and wastewater infrastructure projects, overseeing planning, design, approvals and construction phases.
- Lead a team of professional engineers and coordinate internal and external service providers to deliver a $30M+ annual capital works program.
- Provide expert advice on water and wastewater infrastructure, resolving complex issues and ensuring alignment with Council policies and best practice standards.
- Oversee project scoping, procurement, stakeholder engagement and post-project evaluations to ensure quality, timeliness and budget compliance.
- Contribute to continuous improvement by developing and updating design standards, procedures and systems, while supporting the Unit Manager as required.

We are seeking:
- A qualified Civil Engineer, eligible for NPER and membership with Engineers Australia, with demonstrated expertise in local government water and wastewater engineering.
- Extensive experience in project and program management, particularly in delivering major water and sewerage infrastructure projects across all phases of the project lifecycle.
- Strong financial management skills, including capital works budgeting, cost estimation and program forecasting.
- Proven leadership skills, with experience managing technical staff and coordinating multidisciplinary teams.
- Proficiency in civil engineering software relevant to water and wastewater design and project delivery.
- Current vehicle licence - car.

This position is based in Tweed Heads and can be directed to work from any Council work site.
