Drive the delivery of vital water and wastewater infrastructure - lead projects through design, approvals and contract preparation, and provide expert support through construction and commissioning to ensure successful outcomes.
About the role:
- Deliver new water and wastewater infrastructure projects from concept to construction-ready design, managing all preconstruction phases including survey, investigation, approvals and contract documentation.
- Provide expert engineering advice and resolve complex design and construction issues, ensuring all work aligns with Council policies, standards and best practices.
- Manage multiple concurrent projects and support the Senior Engineer Capital Works in planning and delivering key infrastructure such as reservoirs, pump stations and treatment facilities.
- Collaborate with internal and external service providers, consultants and contractors, and respond to construction and commissioning issues to ensure successful project outcomes.
- Contribute to the continuous improvement of design and construction standards, policies and procedures, and act in a leadership capacity during the Senior Engineer’s absence.
What's on offer:
- a base salary ranging from $119,030 per annum with performance-based increments up to $132,348 per annum, plus 12% super
- a maximum-term contract up to 13 months, with the possibility of extension or permanency subject to performance, funding and operational need

We are seeking:
- A qualified Civil Engineer, holding a Bachelor of Engineering and eligible for membership with Engineers Australia.
- Extensive experience in local government engineering, with high-level competence in water and wastewater design, procurement, contract documentation and project delivery.
- Strong financial acumen, with demonstrated skills in estimating and managing capital project budgets.
- Proven ability to manage and deliver high-quality design outcomes, ensuring compliance with relevant standards and policies.
- A current Class C driver’s licence, with the flexibility to travel for project coordination and site inspections.

This position is based in Tweed Heads and can be directed to work from any Council work site.
