About the role:
- Manage all financial aspects of grants and subsidised schemes, including liaising with government departments, granting authorities, and external auditors to prepare accurate grant acquittals.
- Prepare and complete the relevant notes to the Annual Financial Statements relating to grant administration, assets, and expenditure.
- Ensure general ledger transactions are correctly costed to appropriate accounts within Finance One modules.
- Supervise, coach and provide leadership to the Finance Support Officer – Costing.
- Work closely with and provide support to the Senior Accountant while contributing to strong financial governance across the organisation.

We are seeking:
- Someone who holds a Certificate qualification in Business or extensive accounting experience in a related field, specifically across grants and bank reconciliations.
- Proven experience using corporate accounting systems and the Microsoft Office Suite, with strong Excel skills.
- Solid understanding of financial procedures, practices, and accurate transaction processing.
- Competence in applying cost accounting principles to monitor and analyse expenditure and income.
- Basic knowledge of Australian Accounting Standards, including experience preparing grant acquittals and audit schedules.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to work effectively in a team and demonstrate sound supervisory capability.

This position is based in Murwillumbah and can be directed to work from any Council work site.
