Plant Operator - Streetsweeper

Location: Tweed Heads

Safely transport staff and equipment across Tweed Shire while operating and maintaining civil and plant machinery to keep our construction and maintenance work moving.

About the role:

  • Role is for the operation of Councils footpath sweeper, but may also be required to operate the street sweeper in the CBD areas.
  • Role will entail working outside of Councils standard working hours requiring early morning starts.  Relevant allowances are applicable.
  • Help deliver and maintain roads, footpaths, cycleways, and stormwater systems for the Tweed community.
  • Support a busy team that manages key transport and drainage infrastructure across the shire.
  • Work in a growing region where new infrastructure is always in demand.
  • Be part of a fast‑paced environment where priorities can change and teamwork matters.

We are seeking:

  • Able to read job instructions, manuals, and complete basic work records with confidence.
  • Skilled in operating a range of civil plant and machinery safely and effectively.
  • Capable of carrying out routine plant maintenance and cleaning to keep equipment in good condition.
  • Good communication skills with the ability to work well as part of a team.
  • Able to complete accurate daily records such as run sheets, safety checks, and timesheets on time.
  • Holds a current General Construction Induction (White) Card.
  • License requirement is minimum MR

Where it's located:

This position may be based in Murwillumbah or Tweed Heads, and can be directed to work from any Council work site.

    • Gang Truck, Single Axle Tip Truck, Flocon Truck, Chipper Truck (MR Licence)
    • Tandem Axle Tip Truck, Water Truck (HR Licence)
    • Spray Truck (MR Licence and current ChemCert chemical spray accreditation)

PLANT

    • Roller, Tractor Mower (C Licence)
    • Street and Footpath Sweeper (MR Licence)
    • Forklift (National High Risk Work Licence)
  • Give an example of how you work effectively as part of a team.
