This role contributes to the safe, reliable and efficient operation of essential infrastructure, delivering valued services to asset owners and the community.
About the role:
- Deliver expert metal fabrication and welding services across Council infrastructure, including water and wastewater assets, buildings, playgrounds and flood control structures.
- Assess drawings and site requirements to manufacture, repair or remediate assets efficiently, minimising downtime and disruption.
- Interpret complex design drawings and provide practical solutions that meet engineering and safety standards.
- Work collaboratively with internal teams while maintaining accurate records and complying with relevant Australian Standards and safety requirements.
- Support a safe team culture by participating in toolbox talks, training apprentices, and responding to after‑hours emergency call‑outs when required.

We are seeking:
- Trade‑qualified Metal Fabricator/Boilermaker (Certificate III or equivalent) with hands‑on post‑apprenticeship experience in a workshop environment.
- Strong technical capability in fitting, machining and welding steel, aluminium and stainless steel using current welding technologies.
- Confident working both independently and as part of a small, customer‑focused team to deliver quality outcomes.
- Clear communicator able to work effectively with supervisors, apprentices, and plant and equipment operators.
- Current drivers licence.

This position is based in Murwillumbah, and can be directed to work from any Council work site.
