About the role:
- Maintain and repair Council’s diverse fleet, including light vehicles, heavy trucks and plant, through scheduled servicing and responsive breakdown support.
- Quickly diagnose and resolve mechanical, electrical and hydraulic faults to keep assets safe, compliant and operational.
- Ensure all work meets RMS and ADR requirements, with accurate documentation recorded in Council’s asset management system.
- Work collaboratively across Council, promoting safe, efficient and environmentally responsible practices at all worksites.
- Support team capability by assisting with apprentice training and contributing to continuous improvement within the workshop.

We are seeking:
- Trade‑qualified mechanic with a minimum of four years’ hands‑on workshop experience, including apprenticeship.
- Proven ability to work independently and as part of a small, customer‑focused team.
- Sound working knowledge of fleet management software, vehicle systems and electronic management systems.
- Strong literacy and numeracy skills to interpret manuals, job instructions and accurately complete records and reports.
- Demonstrated commitment to safe work practices and compliance with relevant workplace procedures.
- Current vehicle licence, medium rigid.

This position is based in Murwillumbah, and can be directed to work from any Council work site.
