About the role:
- Work as a Development Engineer within the Water and Wastewater Unit’s Planning and Assets Section, reporting to the Engineer - Developments.
- Assess development applications for water supply and wastewater servicing, and determine practical, fit-for-purpose development consent conditions.
- Evaluate applications under s305 of the Water Management Act and s68 of the Local Government Act, applying relevant legislation, regulations and Council requirements.
- Provide clear written reports and responsive engineering advice to Council, internal stakeholders and external customers on subdivision and development matters.
- Manage complex stakeholder interactions with developers, consultants, contractors and the community while working largely unsupervised to deliver multiple tasks and support policy/procedure improvements that protect health, safety and the environment.

We are seeking:
- Bachelor of Engineering (Civil) and eligibility for the National Engineers Register (NPER)
- Current unrestricted driver licence (car).
- Demonstrated experience in water and wastewater infrastructure planning and design, with the ability to competently assess engineering designs within a development setting.
- Well-developed research, analytical and creative problem-solving skills, with the ability to interpret technical information and develop practical engineering solutions.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills, including the ability to prepare high-quality reports, technical memoranda, emails and correspondence, together with competent stakeholder engagement and negotiation skills.

This position is based in Tweed Heads and can be directed to work from any Council work site.
