Engineer - Developments

About the role:

• Work as a Development Engineer within the Water and Wastewater Unit’s Planning and Assets Section, reporting to the Engineer - Developments.
• Assess development applications for water supply and wastewater servicing, and determine practical, fit-for-purpose development consent conditions.
• Evaluate applications under s305 of the Water Management Act and s68 of the Local Government Act, applying relevant legislation, regulations and Council requirements.
• Provide clear written reports and responsive engineering advice to Council, internal stakeholders and external customers on subdivision and development matters.
• Manage complex stakeholder interactions with developers, consultants, contractors and the community while working largely unsupervised to deliver multiple tasks and support policy/procedure improvements that protect health, safety and the environment.

We are seeking:

• Bachelor of Engineering (Civil) and eligibility for the National Engineers Register (NPER)
• Current unrestricted driver licence (car).
• Demonstrated experience in water and wastewater infrastructure planning and design, with the ability to competently assess engineering designs within a development setting.
• Well-developed research, analytical and creative problem-solving skills, with the ability to interpret technical information and develop practical engineering solutions.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills, including the ability to prepare high-quality reports, technical memoranda, emails and correspondence, together with competent stakeholder engagement and negotiation skills.

Where it's located:

This position is based in Tweed Heads and can be directed to work from any Council work site.
