The Engineer - Projects position provides support for the Senior Engineer – Capital Works in the project planning and management of the delivery of water and wastewater infrastructure including storage, reticulation and treatment assets. This position requires you to make decisions and provide advice as a professional engineer on complex issues across a range of infrastructure types.   

About the role:

  • Support the planning and delivery of essential water and wastewater infrastructure projects, including treatment, storage and reticulation assets.
  • Provide engineering advice and contribute to decision-making on a range of complex infrastructure projects and initiatives.
  • Work closely with the Senior Engineer – Capital Works, consultants, contractors and other stakeholders to achieve project outcomes.
  • Build experience across a diverse range of local government engineering functions, with opportunities to broaden your skills and career development.
  • Contribute to a collaborative team environment while participating in ongoing professional development and learning opportunities.

We are seeking:

  • A qualified Civil Engineer with a Bachelor of Civil Engineering (or a related discipline) and eligibility for membership of Engineers Australia, or equivalent technical experience and expertise.
  • Experience in civil engineering activities, including the design, construction, operation and maintenance of infrastructure assets.
  • Knowledge of project and contract management, with the ability to contribute to the delivery of engineering projects.
  • An understanding of local government engineering infrastructure and infrastructure asset management principles.
  • Well-developed communication and interpersonal skills, including the ability to liaise effectively with a range of stakeholders and manage challenging situations.

Where it's located:

This position is based in Tweed Heads and can be directed to work from any Council work site.
