About the role

The Aboriginal Family Violence Therapeutic Group Facilitator positions have been created to facilitate a range of group programs with Aboriginal women, adolescents and children who are impacted by or have experienced family violence. 

This position will be involved in the design and delivery of new group programs. The facilitator will contribute to the delivery of quality, culturally safe approaches to individuals and whole of family as appropriate through applying VACCA’s therapeutic framework and program guide. Healing through Culture will underpin all aspects of the work.

About You

  • Demonstrated understanding and knowledge of Aboriginal culture and values and the importance of identity, and cultural connections in the healing process for Aboriginal children and families
  • Demonstrated experience in group facilitation
  • A comprehensive understanding of the dynamics and impact of family violence in Aboriginal families and demonstrated awareness of complex intersectionality that impact children and families.
  • Substantial and relevant experience working across Family Violence and Child Protections sectors
  • A demonstrated ability to work therapeutically and sensitively with Aboriginal children, adolescents, women and/or men who are impacted by and/or perpetrators of family violence.

Requirements:

  • You must have and continue to hold a full Victorian Driver’s Licence
  • A current employment working with children check card
  • National police check
  • Current COVID 19 Vaccinations (Minimum Two Doses and Booster shot as applicable) 

Qualifications: 

  • A bachelor’s degree in social work (or equivalent) or willingness to work toward the qualification in line with the mandatory minimum qualifications policy or significant lived experience relevant to the work.
  • Where a degree is commenced but not completed, salary will be fixed at Award Level 4 until successful completion.
