Playgroup Facilitator

• Salary:   $71,128 plus superannuation and salary package

The Victorian Aboriginal Child Care Agency (VACCA) is an Aboriginal Community-Controlled organisation that supports and advocates for the Aboriginal Community and is the largest organisation of its kind in Australia. Position Summary

VACCA's playgroups offer a culturally safe space for all families in our community, especially vulnerable ones, to engage in activities alongside Aboriginal community members. These playgroups foster mentoring, peer support, intentional learning through play, positive parent-child interactions, and skill development. They support child development, and school readiness, and foster cultural identity. Elders, community members, and artists actively participate, strengthening cultural connections. Additionally, they provide information on services like maternal child health and affirm Aboriginal childrearing practices.

About You

• An ability to work effectively with Aboriginal organisations, government departments and community service organisations.
• Well-developed written and oral communication skills and the ability to prepare reports,
• A proven ability to work as part of a team,
• An ability to plan, coordinate and facilitate group sessions with families and children.
• A willingness to participate in training programs and supervision
• Demonstrated commitment and understanding of the values that underpin VACCA’s vision and purpose.
• Awareness and appreciation of Aboriginal societies and cultures and an understanding of the issues affecting Aboriginal people in contemporary Australia and the diversity of circumstances of Aboriginal people.
• Qualifications within the Early Years Sector/ Childcare
• Diploma in Community Services.
• You must have and continue to hold a full Victorian Driver’s Licence, a current employment Working with Children Check card and a clear National Police Check 
• Requirements: You must have and continue to hold a full Victorian Driver’s Licence and current employment working with children check card.
