About the role

As a Case Advisor, you'll collaborate closely with child protection, championing the rights and best interests of Aboriginal children. You'll actively engage with local child protection staff, addressing allegations of abuse and neglect, and contribute valuable insights to case planning. Your role extends to supporting the identification and location of Aboriginal family members for the child's welfare. In addition, you'll foster external relationships with relevant services, ensuring comprehensive support. Your responsibilities will also encompass fulfilling reporting requirements, including case notes and file maintenance. About You

The ideal candidate should possess a strong commitment to VACCA's vision and values, demonstrating leadership both internally and externally. They must have a deep understanding and appreciation of Aboriginal societies, cultures, and key issues. The candidate should showcase proven engagement experience with Aboriginal families and children and insight into issues leading to Child Protection involvement in Aboriginal families. Effective collaboration with Child Protection and other services for child advocacy is essential, along with proficiency in risk assessment within a cultural framework. The candidate should be capable of working independently and in small teams, displaying sound administrative skills, including record-keeping and data recording. Additionally, they should thrive in a pressured environment, managing priorities and meeting deadlines.

  • Desirable: A relevant qualification in Social Work, Community Services or a similar discipline/framework with demonstrated industry experience in working with Aboriginal families in the community.
  • Requirement: Current COVID-19 vaccination (Including booster dose, as applicable), a Working with Children’s Check for a paid employee (or willingness to obtain) and a valid Victorian Drivers License
