The position

An exciting opportunity exists for an enthusiastic Roadhouse Officer who wants to make a positive impact in our community. Special Works operates a range of programs that provide support to people in need from a variety of sectors – Justice, Homelessness, Mental Health and Education.

The Vinnies Roadhouse program provides a safe and welcoming space for people who are at risk or experiencing homelessness to enjoy a free meal and receive support, including material aid and referrals to other services. This program is located at the Canberra Griffin Centre and is open to patrons initially from 3:30 to 5:30 pm Saturday to Thursday.

Reporting to Coordinator Food Engagement Services, you will be responsible for coordinating all activities of the Roadhouse Program such as free meals, information and referral services, material aid and related community events. You will also be responsible for developing and maintaining effective partnerships with relevant external stakeholders.

This is a permanent part-time opportunity for 20 hours per week. You must be available to work until 6:00pm.

About you

Relevant tertiary qualifications in Community Services with demonstrated previous experience in a related role and/or have extensive proven commensurate experience in a similar position within a complex work environment.
