About the Role

As Director Special Works, you will be a key member of the Executive Leadership Team, responsible for setting the strategic direction, performance and long-term sustainability of our homelessness, housing and community inclusion services.

Reporting to the Chief Executive Officer, you will lead a diverse Directorate encompassing specialist homelessness and housing services, and community inclusion programs You will drive service excellence, strengthen stakeholder partnerships and ensure programs deliver meaningful outcomes for the people we serve.

You will provide leadership to specialist teams, strengthen governance and service quality, secure sustainable funding opportunities and contribute to broader sector reform. Success in this role requires the ability to balance strategic vision with operational accountability, ensuring services remain responsive, evidence-informed and financially sustainable.

A key priority of the role will be strengthening our approach to social impact measurement and outcomes evaluation.

You will also play an important role in shaping new initiatives, building partnerships across government and the community sector, and influencing better outcomes for people experiencing homelessness, housing insecurity, poverty and social exclusion.

About You

You are a proven executive leader with substantial experience in community services, housing, homelessness, human services or a related sector. You bring exceptional strategic and commercial acumen, experience leading complex service portfolios and a demonstrated ability to influence change across organisations and systems. You are recognised for building high-performing teams, fostering strong stakeholder relationships and delivering meaningful social outcomes. Above all, you are committed to the values and mission of the Society and to creating opportunities for people experiencing disadvantage to thrive.

Our Offer

  • 5 years fixed-term, full-time executive appointment.
  • Competitive remuneration of $178,000 per annum plus 15% superannuation
  • Salary packaging option of up to $15,900 per FBT year, plus an additional Meals and Entertainment package of up to $2,650 per FBT year
