Directorate overview

This position is in the Vinnies Services directorate and is part of the Homelessness and Housing Team that is responsible for state-wide management of excellent homelessness and housing services.

The Role 

The Team Leader will lead the Accommodation team in Vincentian House, a crisis accommodation and case management service for families and women who are experiencing homelessness or are at immediate risk of homelessness.  The Accommodation team comprising of Support Workers work alongside the Case Management team, and in partnership with specialised services, together they provide dedicated support to people who access their services.

The Team Leader is responsible for:

  • providing effective leadership, supporting members in their professional development
  • preparing rosters to cover all shifts that need to be filled
  • facilitating hand over meetings and coordinating distribution of weekly workload
  • coordinating the delivery of all onsite accommodation services, including: room allocation, resident orientation, unit inspections, laundry supply, monitoring stock e.g. linen, food, kitchen supplies etc; entry and exit inventories/condition reports and other service reporting required
  • being available to be on call roster to assist with issues relating to clients, staff, facilities or other after hours matters that may arise
  • ensuring that Work Health and Safety practices are complied with at all times.

To be successful in this role, you will need: 

  • Minimum TAFE Certificate IV or relevant work experience, or currently undertaking tertiary study, in welfare or related field.
  • Demonstrated Customer Service skills.
  • Demonstrated ability in supervision and coordinating site management.
  • Sound knowledge of Work Health and Safety Act 2011 and workplace application.
  • Highly developed written and oral communication skills.
  • Demonstrated high level organisational, time management and collaborative skills.
  • Experience working with challenging and diverse client groups with the ability to use sound judgement and act appropriately in crisis and emergency situations.
  • Sound administrative and computer skills.
