Mary MacKillop Outreach (MMO) provides safe and supported centre-based and community participation day programs for people with a disability. The service offers an extensive portfolio of educational programs designed to encourage social inclusion, personal growth and significant life skills.

Your new role: 

The Team Leader Disability Program- MMO, will provide high-quality support, supervision, and direction to the program, staff, and volunteers working within the NDIS model of community participation, engagement, and supported decision making. Leading a team of 10-15 support workers, you will utilize your skills & understanding of the needs of people with disabilities and make a vital impact in the day-to-day services that Mary Mackillop Outreach provides. 

Your responsibilities:

  • Coordinating all aspects of the service including rostering to ensure that the staff-to-client ratio is adequately filled on all shifts. 
  • Provide leadership to the service and to direct reports, creating an environment that promotes reflective practice and optimises team performance
  • Provide support to people with sometimes complex disabilities in areas such as personal care, health, and well-being, accessing the local community, learning independent living skills and implementation of all supports in accordance to their funded support needs.
  • Communicate effectively with all stakeholders in a professional manner and ensure ongoing positive relationships are formed with participants family members and carers
  • Oversee the coordination of data collection within the service, including reviewing daily, ensuring compliance with current legislative and NDIS registration requirements and organisational processes.

 

To be successful in this role, you will need:

  • Minimum TAFE Certificate IV /Relevant tertiary qualifications and/or demonstrated experience in the disability services sector. 
  • Proven experience in leading a small team and the key aspects of site management (i.e adequately rostering shifts) 
  • Demonstrated experience and confidence in working with people with a disability and a genuine understanding of their complex needs and behaviors.
  • The proven ability to use sound judgment and act appropriately in crisis and emergency situations
  • High-level computer literacy, excellent organisational/time management skills with the ability to prioritise and manage multiple and competing work tasks and deliver to agreed deadlines.
  • Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to work with a broad range of people from a variety of backgrounds and experiences, including cultural sensitivity and cross-culture communication.
  • Current First Aid certificate & NSW driver licence
  • NDIS New Worker Screening and the Certificate of completion for The NDIS Worker Orientation Module – Quality, Safety & You or willingness to obtain Certificate of completion.
  • Double vaccinated for COVID 19  or have a NSW government contraindication form exemption is required for this role in compliance with NSW Public Health Order (s6C of the NSW Public Health Order: COVID-19 Care Services).
