  • Generous NFP salary packaging benefits - increasing take home pay up to 15k!
  • SCHCADS Award | hourly rates ranging from $36.00 to $38.60  + super + salary packaging 
  • 2 roles available: 1 max term contract: until 30th June 2024  & 1 max term contract  until 30th June 2026 
  • 32 hours per fortnight, rostered shift work: mixture of morning, afternoon & night shifts

 

Your new role:

Diverse and rewarding role providing a variety of support to clients at the site location.  You will be joining a supportive team who are committed to helping individuals find stable housing and support services. 

John Purcell House welcomes supports and provides crisis accommodation for men over the age of 21 years who are experiencing or at risk of homelessness. We strive to create a welcoming and supportive environment for our clients, and our team works together to make a positive impact in our community.

 

Your responsibilities:

  • Provide a variety of supports to clients in a manner consistent with their case plans
  • Maintain daily records and ensure the provision of accommodation services to established quality standards
  • Deliver client support consistent with trauma-informed care practises
  • Safely manage the flow of clients and visitors in the building
  • Uphold and respect the rights of clients, demonstrating a non-judgmental and inclusive attitude
  • Attend to the primary needs of clients and provide a safe and welcoming environment
  • Assist and/or supervise client activities, such as groups and programs
  • Collaborate with service staff to meet client needs and provide accurate information and practical support
  • Maintain client records and case notes in accordance with service policy
  • Advocate for clients with external agencies when necessary
  • Meet service targets as required by supervisor and external agencies
  • Transport clients as required

You will need: 

  • Appropriate Certificate or equivalent experience or currently undertaking tertiary study, in a related field.
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills.
  • Demonstrated customer service skills
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  •  Ability to use sound judgement and act appropriately in crisis and emergency situations.
  • Current first aid certificate.
  • Ability to maintain an ethical, yet non-judgmental, attitude towards residents and staff, and commitment to this.
