About Hazelton Place

Hazelton Place Retirement Residence is managed by Diversicare Canada Management Services Co., Inc.  Diversicare/Verve took over the management of this residence in October 2003 on behalf of Great West Life Realty. 

Our building is composed of eight floors with 160 apartment style retirement suites.  Located on the main and lower levels of the building are the reception area, dining room, administration and health offices, recreation and social activity function rooms, a health spa and other commercial areas.  The 2nd floor of the building is our Assisted Living Floor.  The Assisted Living floor has 26 apartment style retirement suites, a dining room, recreation and social activity room, health office and more.  The building has a sprinkler system throughout, monitored fire alarm system and controlled entry system. 

Hazelton Place serves clients from the City of Toronto, and across the country.  Our clientele are mostly retired business owners and professionals. We offer both independent and assisted living care and services for our residents.  Hazelton Place continues to enjoy and foster an excellent working relationship with the hospitals and Community Care Access Centre and we provide meeting space for community groups and organizations.

Currently Hazelton Place employs approximately 85 staff in 6 different departments.

Qualifications:

  • Available to work both day and evening shifts
  • Available to work weekends
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills
  • Friendly, service-oriented, and displaying a positive attitude
  • Competent in Microsoft Word and Excel
  • Comfortable with computers and most electronics/technology
  • Must be able to learn emergency procedures in use & effectively lead in an emergency situation
  • Highly organized and able to prioritize to maintain efficient Front Desk function
  • Be able to remain calm and professional while responding to multiple inquiries at once
  • Related experience as a receptionist preferred
  • Experience with working with seniors an asset

 Job Duties:

  • Supports and actively participates in the VQI Program
  • Greets all residents/family/guests who approach reception in a friendly and professional manner
  • Handles all incoming calls and redirects as required
  • Provide security to the building by proper sign in/out procedures and entrance monitoring
  • Handles and leads in Emergency Situations
  • Directs calls and assists callers with their inquiries
  • Types memos, letters, forms etc. as requested by managers and assists with any other Administration Office tasks as needed
  • Keeps the front desk and cabinets organized and the reference binder updated
  • Ensures Lobby is maintained in a clean and organized manner, calls housekeeping as needed
  • Records maintenance requests, Medical Appointments, Mail/Package Receipt, hospitalizations/vacations, moving elevator bookings
  • Enters and updates Fobs (electronic key entry) via Intercon System
  • Maintains all Contact listings for staff and residents
  • Assists other Department Managers as required and time allows
  • Other duties as assigned by the Office Manager
