Reporting to the EXECUTIVE CHEF / DINING SERVICES MANAGER, Verve Senior Living is looking for a DINING ROOM SUPERVISOR / TEAM LEADER at its LAKE BONAVISTA VILLAGE RETIREMENT COMMUNITY location.

 

ACCOUNTABILITY / OBJECTIVE:

 

  • Under the direction of the Dining Services Manager, supervises the delivery of all Dining Room services.
  • Is responsible for supporting residents in maintaining maximum independence while also delivering quality service as needed.
  • Is responsible for responding to any situation in a residential hospitality setting in all service areas- hosting in dining room.
  • Hires, orientates, trains, schedules and supervises Dining Room attendants. Holds monthly meetings with dining room staff.
  • Ensures Verve's standards are achieved through knowledge and application of policies and procedures.
  • Participates in Verve's Continuous Quality Improvement program and supports the residence’s
  • Vision Team initiatives.
  • Is an active and participating member of the Trinity Leadership team and is required to attend monthly meetings and to submit annual department goals.

 

BACKGROUND / QUALIFICATIONS:

 

  • The incumbent must be a High School Graduate who has had some formal training in or prior proven experience in working professionally with senior clientele. Ability to maintain effective oral and written communications (in English) and have a positive self-projection, nurturing excellent human relations with residents, families and other team members.
  • Experience in a leadership role in a hospitality setting is preferred.
  • Ability to be a team leader, work independently, be flexible and versatile, and be able to demonstrate initiative and problem solving skills.
  • Knowledge of WHMIS, Food Safe
  • A people-person with a heart for seniors.

 

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

 

  • Ensures that the delivery of service to residents during meal times reflects the standards of Lake Bonavista Village.
  • Schedules meal times for new residents, with follow-up as required.
  • Responsible for all aspects of Dining Room Attendant staffing such as interviewing, orientation, training, scheduling, and probationary and annual performance reviews.
  • Ensures effective team communication within the residence, logs any concerns re: resident behavior in proper CQI Incident reports and forwards such to the Resident Services Manager, and others as necessary. Participates in weekly interdisciplinary meetings with the focus on reporting and consulting with all other departments regarding the safety and well-being of each resident.
  • Participates in the Residence’s ongoing Fire Prevention, Continuous Quality Improvement,
  • Occupational Health and Safety, and Infection Control programs as required.
  • Takes an active role on a CQI vision team.
  • Maintains effective oral and written communication and exemplary human relations with residents, families and staff of other departments, using appropriate lines of communication.
  • Assists with accounting for residents on a daily basis at mealtimes where required. Reports all problems and issues as required.
  • Demonstrates outstanding public relations skills with residents, potential clients, staff and all guests visiting Lake Bonavista Village.
  • Works closely and effectively with the Chef and the General Manager. Fosters team building with own staff and other departments.
  • Gives direction, oversees, and assists in maintaining a safe and clean environment for residents and employees.
  • Displays a high standard of visual presentation in Dining Room and employee appearance.
  • Shares responsibility and care for the physical assets and equipment in the facility and the belongings of residents.
  • Recognizes safety hazards and assists in maintaining a safe, neat, clean environment for residents and staff. It is every employee’s responsibility to report any unsafe work condition immediately.
  • Participates in weekly interdisciplinary meetings with the focus on reporting and consulting with all other departments regarding the safety and well-being of each resident.
  • Leads by example.
  • Aware of in-service education opportunities within the residence and seeks out those that will improve their personal level of practice in order to keep informed of current trends.
