POSITION TITLE: COVID Screener (Temporary Position)
REPORTS TO: Health and Wellness Manager

ACCOUNTABILITY OBJECTIVE
Under the direction of the Health and Wellness Manager, this position screens all individuals visiting, residing, or working in the Residence to ensure those entering the Residence have met the screening standards in place and are in compliance with the appropriate protocols. This will include ensuring the use of the appropriate screening tools and that all individuals are provided with the proper Personal Protective Equipment (PPE). Where testing is required, ensures testing is completed in compliance with protocols.
BACKGROUND/QUALIFICATIONS
High School graduate or equivalent education completed
Excellent communication skills
Resident and family-centred focused orientation
Excellent people skills, willing and able to meet and greet, welcome and support
Previous experience in a clinical setting preferred
Willingness to wear protective apparel (mask, gloves and gowns, as necessary)
Able to work independently and as a team
Ability to prioritize tasks
Reliability and punctuality
Adapt to evolving environment and/or changes
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
Greet, assist, direct and/or escort residents, family members, visitors and staff to the Residence.
Maintain flow at the entrance ensuring everyone entering the location is screened using the proper screening tools provided.
Ensure hand sanitization is being followed and the distribution of masks according to “mask distribution guidelines.”
Adhere to the policy and procedures related to wearing Personal Protective Equipment (PPE)
Verify visitors attending by appointment.
Ensure all persons entering follow proper precautionary measures and wear the correct protective apparel, as required.
Liaise with RPN/Team Leader and administrative staff regarding persons that fail the screening, refuse to be screened and visitor walk-ins that have no appointment booked.
Escorts residents to suites when directed.
Complies with the Occupational Health and Safety Act, Workplace Safety and Insurance Act, and Workplace Hazardous Material Information Systems. This includes recognizing health and safety hazards, reporting incidents and/or any changes to resident’s daily life, fulfilling responsibilities under the applicable legislation, as well as participating in in-services and fire drills. Complies with all relevant corporate policies and procedures.
