ACCOUNTABILITY OBJECTIVE
Under the direction of the Health and Wellness Manager, assists with general cleanup such as country kitchen, garbage removal, laundry, minor resident suite concerns, set up of evening recreation events and other tasks as they occur.
BACKGROUND/QUALIFICATIONS
The incumbent must be a High School Graduate who has had some formal training in or prior proven experience in working professionally with senior clientele. Ability to maintain effective oral and written communications (in English) and have a positive self-projection, nurturing excellent human relations with residents, families and other team members.
- Ability to respond to Alert System calls and discern and prioritize need for 911, family involvement, Doctor or to offer assistance where appropriate.
- Ability to work with minimum supervision and be able to demonstrate initiative and problem solving
skills. - Certified in Basic First Aid
- Knowledge of WHMIS - Experience in housekeeping functions.
- A person with a positive self-projection and ability to use initiative in problem solving.
- A people-person with a heart for seniors and a positive, outgoing disposition. Ability to work independently as well as taking direction, a team player; flexible and versatile.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
Participates in the Verve Quality Improvement (VQI) program.
Performs a variety of duties with an exemplary standard of skill and with a sense of responsibility.
Provides coffee and/or meal break coverage for both Reception and Evening Host.
These duties include: removal of resident garbage to garbage room; resident and kitchen laundry; cleanup of country kitchen; cleanup of staff room; set up and hosting of evening recreational events in the absence of a member of the recreation department.
May be requested to assist in the Dining Room and/or kitchen after buffet or theme events.
Assists in maintaining a safe, neat, clean environment for residents and personnel.
Shares responsibility for the care of equipment in the facility and the belongings of residents as assigned.
Recognizes safety hazards and the importance of providing a safe environment.
Responds quickly to resident calls, giving assistance where appropriate and contacting professional help when necessary.
Maintains adequate records of duties and services performed.
Ensures effective team communication within the residence, logs and concerns re resident behavior in Communication Book
Maintains strict confidentiality of information
Performs other duties as assigned.
